It's been a decade and a 4 months since the first time I've entered our local Cosplay Community.

Below are short summaries of what I've remembered achieving in the span of my Cosplaying experience:

1. It overcome my shyness and eventually built my confidence.
2. I knew where to put my creativity and resourcefulness.
3. Connection is the key.
4. I have met several people, select few have become my family.
5. Some lost, some gained, and few were treasured.
6. These family have conquered both ups and downs.
7. I became stronger by overcoming several attitude from several people.
8. I've traveled across the seas to meet international friends of the same hobby.
9. I have improved well in organizing everything.
10. I enjoy the pressure while I work, multi-tasking included.
11. Tears, sweat and blood (not as gore as it sounds) were shed.
12. I have felt accomplishment.
13. There was limelight.
14. I found my love.

I remember years before, since there was scarcity of resources, you would really have to go dig deeper in some local forums to ask for advises. That way, you were able to interact with people. It was a good start. Everyone become knowledgeable since then. Communicating was fun, especially for myself who had just started before. Several years later, new hobbyists would seek help from me. It was such a nice feeling whenever we solve the issue together and help people to achieve what they wanted to be in a Cosplay.

There was one thread topic about: "Do you see yourself Cosplaying 10 years from now?". Or something like that.

I think I said that I would still be Cosplaying, with full of confidence haha! But nay. If I was almost attending all the conventions/events before, it's very different today. Take for example this year, I have not appeared in any events, nor have I finished a costume for any upcoming events. Surprisingly, it doesn't worry me much like it used to be a decade ago. Last year, I think it was the same. I think I had attended 2-3 events, and I was contended that way.

Must be the generation gap? I don't really know. I must have been tired from a lot of events that were popping left and right. And most of them are same. Right now, I have 1-2 events that I would surely attend because:

1) I support the organizers
2) I'm looking forward to the program/guests
3) Venue convenience

You rarely find these few points in several events within a year. Not only that, I used to enjoy attending conventions with my friends. Though now, because most of us have our own priorities, we rarely meet up and attend conventions together. It makes me sad, but I'm doing the same as well (and I'm missing them so much right now).

I have a friend who asked me if I would still be Cosplaying for the rest of the years. People around us are growing up (I detest using "old") and getting mature. Cosplaying is just a hobby that we might let go soon because we're preparing for each of our future lives. You know, if you've experience Cosplay before, it's really fun. You feel like a kid in a costume, acting like the character you chose and be that character for a day.

Of course, we all know that having our own hobbies is not really a priority. It's a luxury (Cosplay is an expensive hobby). Necessity comes first. So, for those who have asked for my long absence: I'm busy and prioritizing the preparation of my future. I cannot spend as much as I did before. I need to save up. Sometimes I would think that it's better that I spend money for travelling than spend it on this hobby.

Why am I saying this now? Probably because, somewhere along the 10 years of this hobby, I have achieved something (I may have known it or not) and it's alright if I won't be focusing on this right now. Or maybe because I have not gotten a jump start this year? I don't know. I prefer the former (achievement).
